The Modacrylic blanket, also known as the MOLICO flame retardant blanket, is made of a Modacrylic fiber with its own flame retardant properties, the copolymer obtained by Copolymerization of acrylonitrile and vinyl chloride is prepared by dissolving the copolymer in acetone and then dry or wet spinning. It was first produced in 1949 by Union Carbide and has good flame retardancy and self-extinguishing property due to its vinyl chloride content of 50% ~ 60% . The Modacrylic fiber is very similar to the acrylic fiber, but the Modacrylic fiber itself has lower melting point and higher chemical corrosion resistance and fire resistance, therefore, the flame retardant property of Modacrylic blanket will not decrease with the increase of time and washing times.
